About the role
We are Skytree
Skytree enables a transition to a world with cleaner Air for everyone. We do this by developing and deploying smart technology that captures atmospheric carbon dioxide, enabling its use or storage to combat climate change and aid society and businesses around the world.
Born out of the European Space Agency (ESA), we are a global team of highly talented scientists, engineers and business professionals, supported by an experienced management team. Our working culture is based on a dynamic and smart approach to business with an open and understanding attitude to others and a desire to expand the boundaries of what is possible.
As we enter a new phase of growth, we're excited to welcome a Business Finance Intern to learn, develop and grow, and go on this journey with us.
This is an exciting on-the-job learning opportunity to join our global Commercial & Finance team that works on Direct Air Capture projects. You will gain hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving carbon capture and utilization sector. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about climate tech, renewable energy, and sustainable policy.
NOTE:
This internship duration is 6 months, full-time, 40 hours/week.
The start date is ASAP.
This is a practical internship rather than a thesis-based research internship.
This position does not meet the criteria for employer sponsorship, therefore we are unable to support work permit or residency applications. Candidates must be already based in The Netherlands, ideally near Amsterdam. Transportation allowance is offered, however, accommodation is not provided.
Your role
This is a hands-on on-the-job learning opportunity to join our Business Finance team, which bridges technical innovation and commercial execution by owning the financing pathway for Skytree's growth. We secure Corporate Funding to scale the organization and Project Finance to deploy Skytree projects. Business Finance is where "this can work" becomes "this will get financed and deployed." You will gain practical experience in how first-of-a-kind Direct Air Capture projects get built into financeable, executable deployments. This role suits someone excited by climate tech and project finance, who likes turning ambitious ideas into reality - with real potential to stay and grow at Skytree.

This internship is designed for immersive learning and professional development, focused on the executional work of the Business Finance team. You will work hands-on on financing our projects, the company, and our Skyparks, and you'll see how a deal moves from concept into the executional phase.
Your key learning topics may include:
Business Case Development: Learn to build and refine the business cases that make projects work, translating technical and financial inputs into a clear rationale for moving a project into its executional phase.
Project Finance Execution: Support the operational side of financing projects, the company, and our Skyparks, gaining exposure to how deployments get structured and funded. Think along on how we can scale the financial execution of our projects worldwide.
Client & Deployment Contexts: Help make the numbers work across diverse settings for our clients, adapting business cases to different customer situations, applications, and markets.
Capital Provider Enablement: Support the operational cadence with banks and financiers by tracking touchpoints, materials, and follow-ups that keep the external process consistent and professional.
Narrative & Documentation: Support the preparation of crisp, structured materials used in external and stakeholder processes, learning how to make complex technology easy to understand.
Throughout the internship, you will be mentored by experienced team members and encouraged to ask questions, take initiative, and reflect on your learning.
